Help Our Red Raiders Make a Difference: Support the Grand Canyon Service Break!
Remember those college experiences that truly changed you? Raider Service Breaks (RSB) are all about creating those moments for Texas Tech students. These week-long or weekend trips aren't just about volunteering; they're about immersing students in meaningful service, helping them discover their leadership potential, and igniting a passion for making a real difference in the world.
This Spring Break (March 15-23, 2025), a group of exceptional Red Raiders – our very own TTU McNair Scholars – are heading to the majestic Grand Canyon National Park. This isn't just any trip. The Grand Canyon has been an incredible partner to Texas Tech for years, and they've specifically chosen our students to return because of the amazing work they've done in the past. It's a testament to the dedication and spirit of our Red Raiders!
This year, our McNair Scholars will be working alongside the Wildland Fire Program. They'll get their hands dirty helping to protect this natural wonder by clearing overgrown areas and building fire lines. While they won't be fighting fires directly, they'll be learning firsthand about the vital work needed to prevent and manage wildland fires – protecting not only the stunning landscape and its wildlife but also the invaluable Native American artifacts found within the Canyon.
This is a chance for these students to grow, learn, and contribute to something bigger than themselves. It's an experience that will shape them as leaders and citizens, and we believe it embodies the best of what it means to be a Red Raider.
