Description
The Texas Tech Rowing Club is a student-led
organization that offers rowers of all experience levels the opportunity to
train and compete. Focused on teamwork, discipline, and fitness, the club
participates in regional and national regattas while developing a supportive
environment for personal and athletic growth.
The Texas Tech Rowing Club is a second-year,
fully student-operated organization, which makes financials a troubled area.
Most of the club's profits are donations from parents who have supported us so
far in our journey; however, as this organization continues to grow, we’ve
found that this is not sustainable. Additional funds would help our
organization grow and develop, helping us move from getting a third-place medal
to a first.
How You Can Make an Impact
Although we are a new sports club, I am proud of
the Texas Tech Rowing Club's desire to achieve. In our first semester on the
water, we placed third at the Head of the Brazos Regatta in Waco, Texas. We
strive to bring Rowing further into Texas, making the sport accessible to
anyone interested.
Additional funds would help with transportation
and travel for our competitions, as we currently use rental equipment.
Increased funds would also assist in getting equipment such as a Cox Box,
shoes, and seats. Anything unspent would be put into a savings account and used
for the club's development and community-building activities.
